Due to the pandemic, the nature of the workforce and the economy has shifted and we want to ensure our eligibility guidelines are updated to reflect those shifts. Starting September 26, 2021, people filing for benefits must be available for suitable work for at least 40 hours per week or one shift, if their work is shift based.
Now when we say one shift, we do NOT mean one day of work. We mean one shift per day.
We will conduct listening sessions with employer and business groups, labor groups, and our internal business units so we can get feedback on the changes before we work on permanent availability rule changes.
