If you are in the Training Unemployment Insurance (TUI) Program, and have received your notice of approval, the work search requirements do NOT apply to you. If you have applied for TUI but have not received a notice of approval, you must still actively seek work each week.
The TUI program lets eligible workers attend school while receiving regular unemployment insurance benefits. It is open to individuals who have lost their jobs and are not likely to return to their previous industry.
The program does NOT pay for training, instead it removes the work search requirements while you attend school full time, IF you are approved for the program.
The TUI program is designed for short-term training (including associate degrees, but not transfer degrees), or it may be used for a vocational training. It is NOT designed for higher degree programs such as bachelor’s or master’s degrees. An exception MAY be granted if you are 48 credits shy.
